Vocal Instruction builds skill and confidence
I specialize in teaching how to sing and perform pop, chart-topping hits, rock, musical theater, jazz, contemporary Christian, country, and blues.
If any of these styles of music are what YOU desire to learn, it is imperative that you are taught but an instructor that has extensive experience singing and performing them…it’s truly a lifestyle of performing. Unfortunately, some teachers CLAIM to be able to do so, when in reality their lifetime achievements are limited to classical and musical theater. The contemporary genres listed above require a completely different approach to styling, inflection, and energy not shared with classical or musical theater. Don’t settle for an instructor that claims to teach but doesn’t perform these styles. Ideally, your instructor should be presently performing in a band or at the very least have performed gigs in the past…the ideal instructor will walk the walk and not just talk the talk.
My vocal students are trained to:
- to sing correctly and with confidence
- to perform with and communicate confidently with a band
- proper mic technique
- the skill of choosing age and lyrically-appropriate songs relative to their lifestyle
- to negotiate the proper key of a song so it rests within their optimum vocal range
- how to engage a crowd
I specialize in coaching my students to be the best they can be by offering an environment of trust, mutual respect, and freedom to try new things in a non-judgmental manner. A major stumbling block for singers is fear. Fear of rejection, of a failing voice, of making a mistake, fear of sounding horrible…..I help my students overcome fears and instill in them the confidence that will continue to resonate in every area of their life. I coach them and equip them to be confident, comfortable, and courageous. Several of my vocal students also take piano lessons.
The fee for a half-hour weekly private lesson is: $50*
